The Austrian Motorway Network

Austria has a well-developed motorway network of approximately 2,200 kilometres. The vignette requirement applies to all motorways (A) and expressways (S) operated by ASFINAG. The network connects all nine federal states and provides fast connections to neighbouring countries Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

Vienna (Wien)

Vienna has no classic motorways, but several expressways (S1, S2) and the city ring road (A23) that require a vignette. The Südosttangente (A23) is one of Austria's busiest roads.

Salzburg

Salzburg is an important transit corridor between Germany and Italy. The A1 (Westautobahn) and A10 (Tauernautobahn) are the main routes. The Tauern Tunnel on the A10 is a special toll section.
